E-Learning Week 4:
-----------------------------------
Questions
-----------------------------------

Does multi-tasking give you a real or false sense of having accomplished something?

I would say neither. For to me, multitasking comes naturally. When i feel like i can do certain things easily and without much concentration, yet product good enough quality work, i tend to multitask them. However, when i feel like i need to be more serious even when i'm already good in the subject, i would bring my multitasking down a level to just doing my work and once in a while alt-tab to change the music i'm listening to.

So accomplishing anything? Well, my answer would be no. Perhaps i'm just to use to it to realize and take note of these small things.

Is learning 3D and design different from learning programming or is all learning the same? why?

I would say that all learning is similar but not the same. A good example would be this statement: All humans are similar, for we have the same characteristics but we're not the same as we do not all look identical. The similarities here is, we're all still gaining knowledge and practicing it. However, the way to approach the basic learning it is different.

3D and Design is something, to my personally, that requires creativity and imagination. While programming is basically understanding the codes and remembering how to type them and get them to work in the programming logic. Design has no fixed or standard code. Everyone sees a same object with different views. Just as how when people look at art, one may judge to say it looks plain, while another may see much more then just the surface image.

Yes perhaps 3D basics are similar for all have to start at a certain point. But once you get the grasp of it, you would be interested to experiment and try out on your own exactly your preferred method to getting to the end point.

-----------------------------------

The article states that "Learning is actually a very complex operation for an individual". Do you agree with this? Do you feel that you approach your learning in the best way - if yes, how, and if no, how can you change your work style?

I would agree to this statement for as simple as it sounds it actually requires a lot of work to remember and recall. If i'm not wrong, once i heard my sister say that when we study something we only can fully digest and remember it in about 2~3 years from when we first learned it? I'm not so sure, but if it's true then it proves something.

I don't think that my way of learning is the best but i guess it would be effective for me. I enjoy working in the comfort of music that suits my mood for the day. For example, instrumental calming musics for the softer slower days and rock, post-hardcore when i feel the day's been too slow and boring. Music affects the way i do work. When i'm determined i enjoy music that shows that determination. I love music, thus my attachment to it.

But this also means i tend to stray from my work once in a while...Its only because i want to search for more interesting music that exactly suits the mood. Every piece has a different mood although they might not sound too different... funny, i know but it's the amazing thing about it. Just as it is for art.

How can i improve? Maybe i shouldn't get too attach and rely on music too much to motivate me to do work. If i can concentrate without music and just silence or a little sound from my surroundings (say the fan buzzing or the random people running pass downstairs). I guess, as long as i feel comfortable, i am able to concentrate and learn well (:

What are your thoughts about the last paragraph in the extract? Should your lecturers also focus on your work attitude, or just leave you to sink or swim on your own? Why?

I believe that communication is one of the most important key to do well in this society. With networks and good relationships it can bring you far for you have a wide variety of resources. Of course, this would not be easy to achieve it takes skill to analyze and determine correctly what every individual needs and wants and also how to show it such that you do not conflict this relationship with another relationship with another person. Being two-faced isn't all that great.

I think humans are a complicated bunch of people. All we do is create rules to trap ourselves within, if you don't follow these rules you'll either be seen as "insane" or "law-breaking" or anything along the lines of "stupid" and "not normal".

Talking about work attitude; I feel that everyone works different, there's no fixed plan that everyone has to follow to do their work. Especially in the area of art and design. I feel it is necessary for teachers to work on student's work attitude on the condition that the student refuses to do anything just because they don't want to or don't know how to. Else if they can get the work done in their own time and own target before the due date, i believe we should just leave the student to do it at their own comfortable time and pace.

I suppose i have to think about what is "good" work attitude and what is "bad". For everyone sees this differently.

But i think the obvious line is:
Good = all work done, student understands, work not submitted late.
Bad = work not done, student can't be bother, work not even submitted.

Make sense? XD

Whatever that's in between the "Good" and "Bad". Is Average where by the teacher can choose to either push or not. Because that average is determined by each individual.

Elixian
